Frances Spiegel
Frances Spiegel is a UK-based freelance feature writer and photographer. Ms Spiegel holds a Degree in Art History from the Open University, and a Diploma in European Humanities.
Ms Spiegel contributes regularly to Letter Arts Review, an award-winning magazine published in the United States. Her articles explore the history and calligraphy of medieval manuscripts. Ms Spiegel has also written about modern calligraphy such as The Flock of Words on the seafront at Morecambe, Lancashire, or the Cursing Stone at Tullie House Museum, Carlisle.
Ms Spiegel contributes regularly to Altitude, the official magazine of Nationwide Airlines, South Africa. Three recent pieces have included a profile of Dame Judi Dench, a review of the Tate Modern in London, the Tate Gallery’s website, and a look at London’s Natural History Museum.
Ms Spiegel has also contributed to Horizons Magazine, Church Times, Catholic Herald and The Lady, England’s oldest weekly magazine for women.
A recent edition of Best of British, Britain's favourite nostalgia magazine relating to the forties, fifties and sixties, contained a feature about miniature Matchbox Toys.
Modern World Theatre - both Amateur and Professional
As a Londoner Ms Spiegel is a regular theatre-goer, as well as an accomplished performer with over forty years' experience, often taking leading roles in amateur productions as both a producer and performer. She writes articles about her experiences for various paper magazines, as well as for Suite101.com.
Food Glorious Food
Ms Spiegel's family is mad about food. They experiment a lot in the kitchen and many of the recipes appear on Suite such as:
